A Weekend in the Hamptons

A weekend getaway when living in New York City is necessary and what better place to spend a weekend getaway than the Hamptons. Three days is not enough time to spend at the go-to luxurious NYC getaway but you can definitely pack in some of the best sights of the Hamptons. Here’s a little bit on our eventful Hamptons weekend.

We stayed at the Capri South Hampton which is super cute when you walk in. It isn’t the top rated hotel but it’s perfect if you’re looking for a place with Hampton’s preppy aesthetics, amazing loungers by the pool, pool bar and not to mention a pretty good deal if you have a group of four to fit into a room. All of it is what I imagined for the start of the perfect Hampton’s getaway, but if they are holding a party on the weekend, be prepared to listen to techno dj mixes blasting from 3:00 pm- 2:30 am. The restaurant connected to the hotel also turns in to a club, so if you’re looking for something more peaceful, this would not be my first choice. It seems the best way to do the Hampton’s is to look on AirBnB and HomeAway where you can find a great deal for an entire home where many of them have their own private pools.

Our first stop of the weekend was Wolffer Kitchen in Amaganasette Square where we had brunch. The salmon eggs benedict was absolutely amazing and the cocktails were perfect for a summer day. I had a Pink Mojito with white rum, mint, fresh lime, and pomegranate kombucha. The perfect combination. Wolffer Kitchen is in the town square with other expensive boutiques, but we didn’t find much else to do in this town so we went over to East Hampton where they have a whole strip of the basic preppy stores like J. Crew, Vineyard Vines, Ralph Lauren and a ton more. We went to a nearby ice cream shop and enjoyed our treats on the benches that line all of the main strips in town.

If you are looking to go out on the town and go dancing, the South hampton Social Club is an elegant dinner place that turns into a club at night and has a great outdoor area. They have pretty typical drink selection, but a glass of wine or an Aperol Spritz is the way to go. It was a bit of a young crowd our night out but it was fun to let loose and talk to some slight snobby rich bachelors. There are other nightclubs in the area of South Hampton and a couple bars in town like 75 Main and Publick House, but if you’re looking for nice cocktail bars with a bit older crowd, I was told that Bridgehampton is the place to be.

75 Main is also a great place to get dinner right in downtown South hampton. I had one of my favorite meals here and they have outdoor seating so you can people watch all the regulars in town. I also loved getting breakfast at the Cheese Shoppe with hands down the best Acai bowl I have ever had. The bowl was loaded with granola, almonds, banana, but the best was the homemade peanut butter that almost tasted like a peanut butter cookie. The Golden Pear is also a popular place to get your typical breakfast favorites. The line moves fast but you really have to fight to get a seat. The South Hampton stores selection are dangerous but great with stores like Bandier, Club Monaco and a ton of cute boutiques.

We also managed to go out to Montauk and along the way we stopped off at the Lobster Roll Restaurant which was voted to be #3 in the US for Lobster Rolls and they were not lying. They have gluten free options for the roll and they have a ton of other seafood options as well. We tried the Seafood chili which also was amazing but the large bowl of lobster for the lobster roll was our top meal of the weekend. Cooked to perfection with plenty of butter. After we headed up to the Surf Lodge in Montauk and unfortunately it was closed for a private party but my friends had said that it is a great spot to hang out and have drinks outside. Other great spots to go to for drinks are Navy Beach and the brewery in Montauk, but you can also hit a bunch of shops and other restaurants.

Best way we ended the trip was heading down to the beach and seeing all of the beautiful homes. We first took a drive over in Bridgehamtpon to Ocean Drive by the beach where we saw the grandest, most beautiful homes. I describe these homes as architecture and design on steroids! A lot of these homes have the perfect backyard with the beach right out their door. It was much more beautiful than most East Coast beaches but it was also amazing to see the large open sea with the morning surfers and the big waves. I wish I would have had more time to relax at the beach, but the trip overall was the perfect much needed getaway when you are looking to get out of the city. I can’t wait to go bag and explore more of the Hamptons!
