The Fall Bucket List for the Basic and Unordinary

Although we’ve been a few weeks deep into fall, it’s not too late to go out and do all the fall activities. I’ve definitely done all the basic ones this year already, but there are a couple more activities that were out of the ordinary that you have to add to your fall activities this year. I’m so proud of my list so far and can’t wait to do more fall activities this next weekend.

1.       31 Night of Halloween: …BASIC….but if basic is wrong then I don’t want to be right. This year, Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween really has the best lineup with Hocus Pocus every day of October, Adams Family, Edward Scissorhands, Scream, and a ton of other Halloween/ fall classics. If you have a cup of cider, donut, warm pjs and a fuzzy blanket, it makes watching Hocus Pocus for the one-millionth time even better.

2.       Pumpkin Spice Anything: Yes, basic again but Pumpkin anything just makes it really feel like fall. Make some pumpkin muffins or get Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Cinnamon rolls. Starbucks even stepped it up this year with the Pumpkin Cold Brew which is to die for and I would say it’s even better than the more than basic PSL.

3.       Apple Picking: I went to a new apple orchard out in upstate New York called Weeds Apple Orchard which exceeded all expectations and quite honestly beat any apple orchard back in my hometown in Michigan…sorry to say. They had a bar with all their hard ciders, wines, regular cider, amazing food (French Onion Grilled Cheese was to die for), pumpkin patch, hay ride, corn, corner shop with jams and sweets, apple cider donuts, and all the fixings. Best part was that I got to bring the puppy and the parking was free! For my New Yorkers, it truly is best to find someone with a car or rent one for the day because all of the orchards off of the train stops are always packed and makes it much less enjoyable to relax and enjoy the day!

4.       Fall Candles: My amazing roommate got the best smelling pumpkin candle from Anthropologie which are, come to find out, known for being some of the best candles out there. But having this candle lit up gave that warm and fuzzy, feel like home, type of feels. The Anthropologie candles I would say are worth it 100% because they last a long time, but if you’re looking to decorate on a budget and get some cheaper candles, Dollar Tree really has the best and cutest holiday décor that can add the easiest and cutest touches to the house for Fall.

5.       Axe Throwing/Football Bowling: This one is a new one for me and I think it has to be added to everyone’s fall activity list. The axe throwing gives a Halloween-creepy sort of vibe, but it is really fun and most places have liquor or even BYOB. There are a couple places in Brooklyn but Bury the Hatchet is in such a great location and close to Manhattan. Fowling or football bowling is another one to try out for the perfect fall day too! Something different than the typical fall activity and it’s better than always watching movies and stuffing your face with chili and donuts.

6.       Warm Homestyle Cooking: When the weather starts to get a bit more chilly, everyone wants to start eating the warm heavy meals that just make you feel good inside. The best way to cook these meals is to pull out the crockpot and throw together a chili or a roast with potatoes and carrots. The best part of coming home from work or school on a cold day is to smell that crockpot with your all-ready warm cooked meal.

7.       Football Games: How could I not put this on the list.. It has been so long since I have been to a football game especially because I have been living in big city’s for almost 8 years now! But my friends really want to go to a game which I hope I can cross off my fall list this year. Even if you aren’t able to make it to a game in NYC, there are bars everywhere across the country that will have games on with crazy fans that will make you feel like you’re at the game anyway. My favorite place in NYC to catch a game is Houston Hall. There are huge projectors and you are bound to be cheering and screaming with the shared tables of rowdy fans.

8.       Carve Pumpkins/Roast Seeds: I didn’t get around to this yet, but I carved pumpkins last year with my friends and had ourselves some good old fashioned fall snacks. My pumpkin always turns out horribly, but I love feeling like a kid again when going to carve my pumpkin. But you can’t forget to roast the seeds after carving the pumpkins, they are the perfect snack to bring with you to work or school.

9.       Friendsgiving: I do this almost every year and it is always one of my favorite nights of the year. It’s fun to get all of your friends together to sit down and each have a taste of the dish everyone brought to pass. The best is playing games after dinner and having some good old fashioned fun with the friends you care about. I don’t typically do this until late fall because it’s better to get everyone together before things get too crazy for the holidays.

10.   Bonfires and Haunted Houses: These fall nights were always my favorite as a kid living more out in the country, but now that I live in the city, there’s not a lot of room for bonfires. I have a friend who just got a rooftop with a glass top bonfire with the stones which is probably as close as I am going to get to a bonfire until next summer. Haunted houses always can give you a thrill during the fall and get you to cuddle up with your boo thing when you’re scared. If you are brave, you can take it a step further and go looking for the real ghost legends. Swear I have seen a real ghost and it was the scariest moment but one of the best stories to tell.

There are so many other activites I could name off, but if you’re looking to try some other new activities, the best way is to take part in cuffing season and take your guy or girl out to try new things in the area (biking, golfing, new restaurant, see a play/show) or drag your best friends along..

And once the day is all finished with your fall activities, pull out your ESSNTLS and do a little skincare to get yourself ready for the next photographed fall activity filled day 😉
